Samsung Galaxy A56 Review: Is it The Best Midranger?

Samsung is one of those manufacturers that has mobile phones at almost every price point.

Do you have 100 bucks to spend on a phone? They got you covered.

Do you need the best of the best at $2000? They have you covered there, too.

Samsung catches almost all kinds of consumers. But the sweetest of all is their midrange price point at around $400. You get the best of both worlds: great display, fine performance, and on top of all that, the best bang for your buck. This is exactly what I will explore in this write-up – the best midrange Android that Samsung can offer today.

Samsung Galaxy A56 was launched back in March 2025. I got mine in April, and it’s been a while since I have been using this phone as my daily driver. If you were on the lookout to get the best value for money phone, and shortlisted the A56, you did the right thing.

Now, let me walk you through everything great and not so great about it. If that sounds interesting, let’s head right into it.

Battery and Display are Fantastic

The battery is one of the most important aspects in any phone, so let me start with that.

Samsung Galaxy A56 houses a 500mAh battery that charges via a wire at 45W.

Spec-wise, it looks great. How does it hold up in real-world usage? Let me explain.

This is an easy two-day battery for normal users. I am a power user who uses my phone for almost everything – ordering groceries, watching Netflix, gaming, navigation, and more. Even though I am a power user, I wasn’t able to kill this phone in a day.

It was a weekend, and I binge-watched Squid Game in 4K thanks to my high-speed Spectrum Internet. Then I played Asphalt 9, and did some casual social media browsing. At the end of the day, my screen-on time for the day was 7+ hours, and the battery left was 33%. This is a really extensive usage of a smartphone. If you don’t game or ‘binge’ watch content on your phone, you won’t need to charge this A56 for at least two days. It is that good when it comes to the battery life.

Apart from that, another cool aspect of the Galaxy A56 is its display. It is a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display that comes with HDR10+ support and clocks at a max 120Hz.

To be honest, this is one of the finest displays I have seen in a midrange phone in a long time. The last one was, I think, Samsung Galaxy A73. Anyway, this is the exact reason why I was able to binge-watch all three seasons of Squid Game. It has a beautiful display. The colors are vibrant without overdoing it. I mean, the objects on the display still keep their natural look.

All in all, it is one of the best midrange phones when it comes to the battery and the display.

The Performance is Just Fine

This phone is powered by the Exynos 1580 chipset. This processor is Samsung’s in-house produced and runs on a 4nm architecture. Leaving the specs aside, how does the A56 actually perform?

Samsung has never been known for great performance, especially for mid-range phones. The same story repeats here. I totally don’t mean that Galaxy A56 is a bad performer. I just mean that it isn’t the best, even in this price range. Samsung’s in-house processors have always been subpar when compared to the best in the industry. I am talking about the Snapdragon and Apple’s A series chipsets.

And it reflects in the real-life performance as well. I was playing multiplayer games like PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty Mobile on it. The frame rate was maxing out at 60fps, and it sometimes drops the frame rate. It wasn’t frequent, so the experience was fine but not phenomenal.

To conclude, I would say that if you are a power user, you will slightly feel that it isn’t great at performance.

Last but Not Least, Cameras are Great for the Price

Cameras might be the most important factor of a smartphone, and Galaxy A56 shines here.

It has a main 50MP shooter, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro lens. On paper, it doesn’t sound exciting, but in real-world usage, this camera system is fantastic.

Whether it is low-light photography or capturing natural landscapes, the Samsung Galaxy A56 is great. I have posted some pictures on my Instagram, and the ones that were liked the most were taken by the Galaxy A56.

As for the videos, it can record 4K up to 30fps, and the videos come out stunning as well. They are bright and have enough details in them.

The bottom line is that if camera matters to you, Galaxy A56 might just be the right choice for you.
